Set in 80 hectares within 15 minutes’ drive of Christchurch Airport, Orana Wildlife Park is a must do attraction in Christchurch and provides the ultimate animal adventure. We get you up close and personal with the animals. Imagine hand feeding a majestic giraffe; seeing New Zealand’s only gorillas; eye balling the magnificent white rhino; meeting New Zealand’s national icon, the kiwi or travelling through the Lion Reserve! Orana is internationally renowned for its involvement in zoo-based breeding programmes for endangered exotic and native species. When you visit, you are supporting our conservation work.
There is something to entertain people of all ages, for the entire day, at Orana Wildlife Park! Our aim, along with being dedicated to the conservation of endangered specied and the welfare of our animals is to provide education, recreation and enjoyment to the public.
Hours & Prices
Orana Wildlife Park is open daily from 10.00am until 5.00pm
Last entrance is 4.00pm, although it is recommended to allow at least 2 hours visit duration to make the most of your Park experience.
The Park is only CLOSED on Christmas Day and is otherwise open every day of the year (including statutory holidays).
Admission prices: Adult $34.50; Student/Senior Citizen $29.50; Child (5-14 years) $9.50; Concession (2 adults and 3 children) $78.50; pre-schoolers (under 5 years) free.
Child push chair/buggy hire $5 for 2 hours, $2 per hour thereafter plus a $10 bond.
Wheelchairs are FREE to use, on a first-in, first-served basis.
For health and safety reasons and animal welfare, we do not permit bikes, scooters, roller blades, skate boards, balloons etc as well as footballs/balls into the Park.
· No commercial photography/filming to be taken without prior permission – please contact us for more information.
· First aid facilities are available at our Information Centre (opposite the café, near the main administration building).
· Children 14 years of age and under must be supervised and will not be permitted in to the zoo without a supervisor. Orana Wildlife Park is an open range zoo so there are a number of natural waterways throughout the Park. Our safari shuttle also regularly drives around the zoo so please watch children at all times.
