The arrival of spring sees the markets and supermarkets stocked full of a seasonal favourite and awesome kids finger food, Asparagus. It’s loaded with nutrients and antioxidants, is a great source of fiber, folate and vitamins A, C, E and K so is a perfect healthy snack for kids.
We’ve put together a few ideas on how you can pimp up those little green stalks to keep the kids coming back for more and help tempt those fussy eaters.
1. BACON TWISTS – Lightly steam your asparagus then wrap a piece of streaky bacon round and grill/fry – you can;t go wrong with bacony yummyness.
2. CRISPY ASPARAGUS – dip your asparagus in egg wash and then coat in breadcrumbs and bake in the oven. You can add flavouring to your breadcrumbs such as herbs, grated parmesan, or any seasoning combinations your have in the cupcoard.
3. ASPARAGUS ROLLS – a kiwi classic. Steam/boil your asparagus and roll up in buttered bread – crsuts optional! You can jazz these up by adding cream cheese or ham or pop them in the oven to toast them up.
