I thought Mitchell Itches was a fun book to read, but also kind of sad. Mitchell looks really itchy.
It was sad because Mitchell has eczema, but it was fun because he had fun at the beach, making new friends and playing soccer.
It was a cool and interesting book because it taught you about what things are good to help with eczema. I also learned about how people can be mean to people with eczema. But even though people can be mean to you, you can still be cool.
Mitchell’s not allowed eggs and when he gets itchy he likes to play the guitar so that he forgets about itching. People are impressed with him playing the guitar and like him.
The adult’s view
Mitchell Itches is a great story for learning about what eczema is, and what it’s like for kids that have it. It’s messages aren’t delivered in a preachy way, with the story lively and relatable. It’s also full of practical tips for dealing with this itchy affliction. The author expertly shows the reader how kids dealing with this are so much more than just eczema itself. I also learned how important it is to never tell a child with eczema to stop scratching. They would if they could! Perfect for kids managing eczema and for any child to learn more about this and how to better understand those with it.
