The Show is back, and you’re invited!

In all its traditional splendour, The New Zealand Agricultural Show will be bringing the country to town in style this November, while offering a plethora of new events and experiences for visitors over three days – Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 9-11 November. Best of all, this year, all kids under 18 get free entry. Plus, a raft of free activities and attractions ensures families can have a fun-filled and affordable Show experience.

Check out these free attractions

Novelty games with a rural flavour

Hay bale racing, sack racing, Kidz Kartz, cow pat throwing, face painting and pedal tractor racing!

The Hazlett Children’s Farmyard

A firm (furry) favourite, the Farmyard will be better than ever with even more animals and their babies for kids to cuddle. The Farmyard flows out to the sheep maternity wing with tranquil seating and climbing frames beneath the trees.

Entertainment

The Main Stage and Family Stage will host an exciting line-up of performers – with everything from comedy to magic to music for  youngsters. The kids will love Sport Suzie, Angelfish Kids, Josh Grimaldi and Biggest Little Circus.

Art in the Park

Artists will paint 12 life-size model cows, which will be placed throughout the grounds for children to discover. The Cow Trail is a great way to get around the Park, and children get to vote on their favourite.

The First NZ National Christmas Cake Competition

It’s time to get your bake on because there are great prizes to be won!

Clash of the colleges

Support your local school, as agriculture students compete across 25 events, from milking to wool classing.

The traditional favourites

From sheep shearing and dog trials to wood chopping and showjumping, there’s something for everyone.

Getting the most out of your day at the Show

  • Plan your day: know what’s on and what you want to get around as a family.
  • Bring water and snacks. As part of the Show’s sustainability goals, there will be no plastic water bottles for sale, but there will be plenty of stations to refill your bottles.
  • Bring a backpack with whatever you need for the day and take everything home at the end.
  • Bring your own coffee cup: there are wash-up stations at each food vendor.
  • Write your phone number in permanent marker on your children’s arms.
  • Encourage your kids to start saving some pocket money to spend at the Show.
  • Don’t forget the sunhats and sunblock!
